Mountain Of God By Third Day

I have some new photos and updates from Emily and will post it later. In the meantime, this is a song that she told me about that seems like a "theme song" to what happened these past few months.

PRAYER REQUEST: (I am posting this up here - this was posted on the comment section on the previous post). Please pray for Sydney's sister:

Emily. You look beautiful! Since God is on your team give a shout out for my little sister. She hit an embankment at 70 MPH today and she is 9 weeks pregnant. We are praying the baby is OK. She has bruised internal organs and burns from the air bag.
We miss you! Sydney

Presenting .... Emily!

***

Jeremiah 29:11-14a says, "For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart. I will be found by," declares the Lord.

From Emily ...

*Emily sent me another e-mail, for me to share (I edited a little bit to be a post format instead of a letter :)

It has been extraordinary and reaffirming to be back on Maui with everyone. I have been staying with Jenny and Tony. They are ever kind in their sharing. The kindness of allowing me to reside with them in their home for a while. I have been over at my dad and Loretta's home as well (for church fellowship on Sunday)

My system is doing well. My dad talked about the amazing ability the Lord built in our bodies to be able to heal, regenerate in part of the healing of injuries or illness. I am big into nutrition and holistic direction. Kombucha and green teas are especially valuable for bodies. Protein and greens as well. All credit goes to Christ.

My knee doctor (sorry, forget exactly what they're professionally labeled as) took four x-rays of my knee injury last Thursday. The bone that was detached for the most part is re-fusing itself! So he'll just operate on the torn muscle. He also gave me permission to walk with the knee brace on WITHOUT the crutches if it felt as ease enough. I have. It feels more secure and less strenuous to move about without the crutches. At time I ever walk around with no brace on or the crutches, and that's even better! Have also done the therapy exercises in the pool (Tony's rad saltwater pool) and with the arm weights that Oahu therapy gave me orders and paper instruction for.

Today my mom and I go to the police for them to ask me questions again. Then an appointment for some kind of "occupation therapy" (go figure what that implies....ha ha).

Going to Hope Chapel on Friday night was the right decision. I thank my grandma for being with us. It was the first time I'd been to the new Hope building/setting. Nice. Bless Kit for what he shared. And thanks to each who approached me. Still convicts me, the way fellow believers have responded.

I would have loved to have seen you Liza. To embrace dear you.

New photos soon.

For I Know The Plans I Have For You ...

* The following is a comment left by Linda on the post just before Emily left and she left the rehab at Ohau. With all the excitement of coming home to Maui, I didn't get to post this up ... but now is a good time to do it. Here it is:

Hi to family and friends,

I second Emily's happiness and readiness about coming home to Maui. Rehab has been a good time of healing for Emily. Lots of work and improvement!! We have loved sharing the power of God and the many prayers of His people with all the therapists and nursing staff. Amazing to meet people that were here when Josh and I were here 12 years ago. Last night when Josh and Heidi were here for a visit, I couldn't help but stand in awe with the reality that I have been a witness to two miracles in my life...Josh and Emily were both given new lives here on this earth. I stand and bow down before an almighty God! He has done more than I could ever begin to comprehend of His Majesty, Love and Power!! How can we ever think we are able to walk thru this life without Him?

Jeremiah 29:11-14a says, "For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart. I will be found by," declares the Lord.

This isn't about money or things we can obtain. I believe it's speaking of our hearts and souls.

He has shown me that I have prospered spiritually in more ways than my human understanding can possibly comprehend during this last month. Emily and I have often talked of God's Ways. We both know that God has given Emily a wonderful hope and an exciting anticipation of the future. We wait in expectation to see Him lay out her path. She is such a witness of God's Grace and Love. All the Glory belongs to God!!

Thank you for your continued love, prayers and kind words.

Now, let's get out of this place Emily. I've signed the papers and we are almost FREE!!!! HaHa

In His Son's Sacrificial Love,
Linda Spencer

The Paparazzi Weren't Doing Their Job

On Friday morning a friend of mine told me that she saw Emily and Aaron out on a date at Outback. I kid you not! Yep, she's out and about. Where's the paparazzi when we need them? :)

On Friday night I was at Hope Chapel. I was just dropping off my daughter (she's going to a friend's house for a sleep over after the Service). As I was leaving, I saw a glimpse of a beautiful someone with a skin head (is that the right term? - ok, let me use very very short hair), walking towards the door of the auditorium. My brain cells froze for a second and it was too late when I realized that it was Emily! She was already inside the auditorium. I didn't want to follow her there because she's going in to worship. Golly, when was my camera when I needed it?

Anyway, I thought I'd post something here to let friends and family know that Emily is doing incredibly well. I am sure she's calling or e-mailing some of you, if you have not received a call or e-mail yet I know one day you will :)

I will be e-mailing them to ask for a recent photo (I know... I know I said that last week but didn't get a chance to e-mail or call them yet). I am not sure how long we'll keep this blog. I know Emily has a Facebook account so we might direct you there in the future. We'll let you know.

And once again, thank you for your prayers and support - you've been a important part of God's miracle in Emily's life.

Emily Will Be Back On Maui - TODAY!

* More e-mail from Emily, written last night (yes, night before today :)

Liza, thank you for the new post. I love being able to look at those photos too, on the blog, and for others to be able to see them.

We are flying out tomorrow. We get picked up at 10 am to be taken to the airport. Josh and Heidi fly out a few minutes after we do tomorrow also. It's all exciting. Jenny will pick us up. I will be residing with my dear Jenny and Tony on Maui. It's a blessing.

They put a new room mate in this room after the other one left (she was a rude one who was insisting that Emily's bed should be hers). The one now is an obese woman who is making weird noises and statements in her sleep.

My jaws sometimes get sore. They are sore right now as is my knee hurt. I am sleepy but this bed is so uncomfortable that I do not want to try again until it is closer to morning, thus my typing right now.

Thank you again Liza. Are you still out at Waikapu? I miss everyone out there, and work too. Mmm. (funny how one can miss work, when others would rather be on vacation - he he)

Glory To God!

* I wanted to share with everybody part of Emily's e-mail to me. This is an edited version as I took out some "girl talks" that's just for us :). It was fun receiving her e-mail; it was a blessing reading it because it shows how far she's improving with the help of all these therapies she's going through (and of course the prayers going up from all over the world). It's exciting to be a part of this miracle. I want to add a special thank you to all who have commented and are faithfully visiting the blog. Glory to God! - Liza

Dear Liza,

Thank you so much for maintaining the blog for me. It has meant so very much to my heart and mind. It has helped and provided extra much needed comfort. Thank you, thank you. I know you have a full life with little extra time. I appreciate this from the bottom of my heart Liza. It brings tears to me eyes.

Today I had therapy lessons starting early this morning until 11:30 am. They start again at 1:30 this afternoon and last until 5 pm. The fullest day yet.

Aaron Burke, my love, was here for the weekend. He was a pure blessing. He was so good to me. (The photo of Aaron and Emily on the left was taken during Aaron's 18th birthday on Maui :)

The Lord is forever here. He is always with us. Knowing, feeling this brings weep moments.

Thank you again Liza. I wanted to write and let you know how I am thankful so much.

My mom and I have excellent Christian music CDs that we are playing on this computer a lot. How rich the song words are to feed into the mind and heart!

Love you and your family.
Emily

I will be adding some random photos every post as I have some in my computer sent by Jenny and Emily that I have not added yet. Here are some for a start :)

Update From Joyce ...

I was able to have a wonderful chat with our granddaughter, Emily, this afternoon. She has her voice back and just sounded wonderful. She wants to be sure everyone knows how much she has appreciated all the prayers that have been going up for her!

She is so excited about coming back to Maui and home on Wednesday of next week.

When I remember how the doctors could not even tell us if she would make it and then look at far she has come within 3 plus weeks, it is indeed a miracle from God!

Thank you all from the bottom of our hearts. She will still need knee surgery within a few weeks but she is ready for that also!

God Bless each of you,
Joyce and Jesse Spencer

Emily here :) - UPDATED

Hello people, Emily here. I'm on Oahu right now at the rehab hospital. It's mostly mental rehabilitation, with some physical tasks as well, such as leg and arm exercises. I'm going to be coming home to Maui next Wednesday! Woo hoo. Very excited about that. God is exceedingly faithful. Thank you all for your prayers and support. I'm oh so grateful and blessed. Much love.

UPDATE - Additional comment by Emily on Sept. 19th

Emily wrote:

Psalm 33

Us,
all children of the living God,
who is with us.
Even though the journey is long and hard,
He saves, loves,
He is the mountain.

Here are the verses 18-22 of Psalm 33:

But the eyes of the LORD are on those who fear him,
on those whose hope is in his unfailing love,

to deliver them from death
and keep them alive in famine.

We wait in hope for the LORD;
he is our help and our shield.

In him our hearts rejoice,
for we trust in his holy name.

May your unfailing love rest upon us, O LORD,
even as we put our hope in you.
